about

Happy Holidays to my Backers! "I GRIEVE" is one of the songs from the "Integratron Sessions" EP which is a Kickstarter reward for the supporters of my new album. This song was recorded with just my Martin guitar and vocals in a magical wooden dome in the Mojave Desert on my 30th birthday... I was living between two small towns on the Oregon Coast when I wrote it. At that time, family, community, music, work, & raising my daughter was my LIFE!

lyrics

I GRIEVE (Lyrics)

I live in between community
Sometimes it seems silly
20 miles to either one
So I drive
This makes me part of the big problem I know
Set up to fail
it's just where I landed
Outside of town
My car she's
Always breaking down...

I need to strengthen my body (&)
My bone
Cross the river in my back yard
Walk the logging road
Where the trucks take the down trees
But when I see them
I must feel like Jesus did ('cause)

I grieve
For the mother
I grieve
For the poor
I grieve
For the wealthy
Who think that they
Have something more

I live in between community
The one on my right so hip & cool
Art hangs on the wall
It's musical political
The party
Never ends
In that small city
Feels like
Jealousy & Love
And everything above
Below & in between
& just when I think
I've come to understanding Jesus

I grieve
For the Mother
I grieve
For the poor
I grieve
For the wealthy
Who think that they
Have power over

If you come to me
Asking forgiveness
I shall not deny you
I shall only love
Nurture & hold you
I will bless your walking feet (&)
If you walk with me
I will show you the way
spend every day praying
Listening & sharing
In this thirsty desert
I will bleed
So you may drink
So you may drink...

The one on my left's
Trying to self sustain
They hold town meetings & circles
The people come
They take their ceremonies seriously
& I attend
I am grateful they love me
For who I am
I am thankful
They say I am whole
Exactly as I am (&)
I believe them

(Still) I grieve
For the mother
I grieve
For every whore
I grieve
For the wealthy
Just as hungry
As the poor

I live in between
This year my garden has grown
Fruit spilling over their branches
Enough to share with neighbors
I have neighbors
It's time to recognize my own
Community...

Blue Jay & Crow
Bamboo & Alder
Folks I've yet to know
Wish I had me a row boat
To fly with the Eagle
Up the River

(Just like Jesus)

He knows grief
For the Mother
He knows grief
For the poor
He knows grief
For all the four legged
And Feathered
Who fly no more
No more...
